Livno

Above the town of Livno, on the Kruzi plateau of Mount Cincar at about 1,200 meters, roam several hundred wild horses. Their ancestors were work horses released by farmers in the 1970s, once tractors replaced them. Only about 50 survived the 1990s war, but the herd has grown back to around 400 or more, and the horses have been protected by law since 2010. Seeing them run across the open plateau is one of the most unforgettable sights in Bosnia.
